Fade

Be the sinner they think you are
You’ll burn out like a falling star
Blaze then fade
Drink away
Make it fade

Some memories are better left alone,
Smile, say I’m fine, soon they’ll be gone,
Walk away
They’ll fade
But
People never come close to letting you forget
Might as well play along, take another sip
Masquerades

There’s a lot of ways to dull your pain
Revenge, money, maybe a little fame
Be careful it’s not always stable at the top
Viewing the world from where you’ve dropped
But it’s okay, this too will fade.

This is my soul talking back to me.  Mistakes, bad memories, seeking escape from pain through alcohol. People who hide behind smiling masks but viciously attack you.  Revenge, money and fame is a generalization: dealing with soul issues, but we all know these things don’t heal us. Crutches come in many forms, I could have used any combination and still be on target. Love-the upside (be careful it’s not always stable at the top) and suffering for it-the downside (viewing the world from where you’ve dropped) but the pain will fade.
